Our Mission:
At Buttonweed Press, we strive to create illustrated picture books for elementary-aged
children that promote and celebrate difference and
identity in both educational and meaningful ways. Using the buttonweed
wildflower of Minnesota as our inspiration for holding on to and harvesting
beautiful ideas season after season, we produce beautifully written and
illustrated high-quality books from which to grow children into well-adjusted,
life-loving individuals. It is our belief that we are all different and
in turn each uniquely beautiful--just like wildflowers. Our titles seek
to demonstrate this concept by allowing our readers to live vicariously
through the main characters and learn from their experiences.
History:
Buttonweed Press, L.L.C. was formed in 2004 in Northfield, Minnesota out of a need to house a line of children’s books that would present concepts of difference in positive ways so that teachers, librarians and parents easily have a source for finding high-quality children’s books in this area of learning from one dependable source.
